I have always loved creating, whether that’s drawing, painting, stitching or trying a new craft. I particularly love making mixed media and textile art, often inspired by nature and the changing seasons.
During my career I have worked with people with a range of disabilities and care needs. I worked as a teacher and later as a playworker with children and young adults who had complex disabilities. I worked as an activity cooordinator for a charity who supported adults with learning disabilities. More recently I’ve worked with older adults with health and care needs.
I know from my own experience how art and creativity can be hugely beneficial to wellbeing. I’ve also seen how much it can empower and give confidence to people who have disabilities and health challenges. I’m interested in how making art can build social connections too.
I’m very excited to be joining Creative Minds and being part of a community who are encouraging and enabling art and creativity for people who find it difficult to access, it’s so important!
